New York is the most populous city in the United States, more than twice the size of the second largest city, Los Angeles.

In the period from 2000 to 2010 all five of New York's boroughs saw growth:

• The Bronx 3.9%
• Manhattan 3.2%
• Brooklyn 1.6%
• Queens 0.1%
